Trail Guide

A superbly maintained trail through woods and wetlands, including sections of boardwalk, lies in this state and federally supported preserve and museum. This well-run facility is dedicated to explaining the ecology of Great Bay and its wetlands. Inside the main building is an excellent exhibit, and outside is a walking trail to show the environment up close.

The trail mounts an attractive boardwalk as it winds through wetland areas. The trail is short, but designed especially for slow strolling and browsing.

At this writing, there's no fee for visiting. (Odiorne - take note!) This is a great place to take children.

NH - Southeast

  Driving Directions

Reach by taking Rt. 33 from Portsmouth (accessible off Rt. 95 at exit 3), through Greenland to Stratham. Just past New Hampshire Technical College, watch for the signs to Sandy Point, and for Depot Road. Turn right on Depot Road, follow all the way down to the old railroad tracks, and the Discovery Center, with parking, will be obvious on your left.
